Maine Dock Scenes with a Fauve Flair.
The third grade students are drawing from examples of Maine docks. They are transferring lessons from before on how to create a scene with a foreground, middleground, and a background. When the drawings are ready to be painted, they must use "wild" colors, as the early 1900 Fauve painters did. The students used brush strokes to describe the subjects they were painting. Take a look and check out some of the links on famous fauve painters.
